If your flight to Antalya lands after 22:00, you're part of the majority β most charter and budget airline schedules favour off-peak landing slots. Here's how to handle the night arrival without stress.
Before you fly
- Pre-book your transfer. The taxi rank operates 24/7 but waits get long, drivers get pushy with fixed prices, and pricing inflates after midnight.
- Save the driver's WhatsApp. We send driver details 24 hours before pickup so you can coordinate landing without WiFi.
- Withdraw small Turkish lira notes. Some restaurants and small drivers don't accept large bills.
- Download offline maps. Google Maps offline area for Antalya region β useful if your driver doesn't speak your language.
On the plane
- Have your boarding pass and visa ready for fast passport control.
- Check your hotel address in the booking confirmation β the driver may need to confirm.
Landing to arrivals
- Passport control at AYT is generally efficient even at night β 10β20 minutes typical.
- Baggage can take 20β40 minutes for charter flights.
- Customs is a green channel walk-through unless you're carrying restricted items (alcohol over duty-free, large electronics).
- Free WiFi in arrivals β 1 hour. Connect immediately to message your driver.
Finding your transfer
Your driver will be in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. The hall has clear signs in Turkish, English, German, and Russian. If you don't see them, WhatsApp the driver number you received β they are tracking your flight and waiting nearby.
Food after midnight
Most arrivals-area food options close around 23:00. After midnight you'll find:
- 24/7 Burger King and Starbucks in the international terminal (T1)
- Vending machines in arrivals
- Domestic terminal cafΓ© if you're desperate (open later)
If you're hungry on arrival, your hotel can usually provide late-night room service or at least a sandwich and water. Mention "late arrival" in the booking notes.
ATMs and currency
Multiple ATMs in arrivals hall. Use bank ATMs (Garanti, Δ°Ε BankasΔ±, Akbank, YapΔ± Kredi) β they have lower fees than the standalone "Euronet" ATMs which charge 8β12% conversion markup.
SIM cards / eSIM
- TΓΌrk Telekom and Vodafone stores in arrivals β about 600 TL for 20GB tourist SIM.
- eSIMs (Airalo, Holafly) are cheaper if your phone supports them β buy before you fly, activate on landing.
Taxi rank at night
If you didn't pre-book, you'll need the taxi rank. Important:
- Insist on the meter (taksimetre) β fixed-price quotes after midnight are 30β50% inflated
- Have small bills β drivers may "have no change" for large notes
- Get the receipt β you can claim if there's a problem
Police are present at the rank 24/7. If a driver refuses the meter, walk to the next one.
Hotel arrival
- Reception at all 4-star+ hotels is staffed 24/7
- Smaller hotels and pensions may close reception after midnight β coordinate via WhatsApp before flying
- Have your booking confirmation ready on your phone
- Cash for local fees β some hotels collect a small "tourism tax" in cash on arrival (around β¬1.50/person/night)
